8/17/04-8/23/04
Tuesday 8/17/04
A.M. Ran 10 miles today at a clip a little above 6 minute pace. Legs do not feel that bad considering the first hard effort I had done in about 3 or 4 months was 3 days ago. There was a little tightness in the hip on Sunday and Monday but a good massage worked it out.
Wednesday 8/18/04
A.M. Ran 11 miles today at a clip much like yesterday, not much faster than about 6 minute pace. Legs and hip feel great.
Thursday 8/19/04
A.M. Ran 10 miles today at around 6 minute pace. All systems seem good.
Friday 8/20/04
A.M. Ran 10 miles at around 6 minute pace. Everything seems to be fine.
Saturday 8/21/04
A.M. Ran 10 miles today at around 6 minute pace. Nothing seems out of wack.
Sunday 8/22/04
A.M. Ran 11 miles today at about 5:15 pace. Ran easy all week and wanted to pick up the pace a little. Would not have ran the pace I did had I known we were going that fast. Felt fine afterwards but also a little bit foolish.
Monday 8/23/04
A.M. Ran 10 miles at a pace a little slower than 6 minutes. Legs felt fine with no noticeable effects from yesterdays effort.
Comments: I have been running for almost two months now. The last month or so mileage has been increasing 4 miles a week and will continue to do so until right around early October and about 100 a week. As long as there are no hiccups in training, things will keep progressing with a workout planned as early as 2 weeks from now and some pacing at Chicago in early October. Cal International Marathon is the race at the end of the training block and if things go well my current marathon P.R. will be taken down significantly. The main and most important focus of this training block is to get my feet back under me and put myself in position to develop without setbacks.
