8/9/04-8/15/04
Monday 8/9/04
a.m. 12 miles in Ocean City, NJ, 7:00 pace. Ran most of it on the boardwalk, which was fun for awhile, but then dodging the millions people on bikes and surreys got a little old. Legs felt a little fatigued from running the Pennsylvania hills for the past few days.
Tuesday 8/10/04
a.m. 6 miles easy with the group out and back on the Paint Creek Trail. Felt good to be back running with the girls again.
p.m. 4 miles in Bloomer Park
Wednesday 8/11/04
a.m. 3 miles wu, 8 mile tempo run, 2 miles cd. Workout at Stony Creek Metropark. Legs got a bit fatigued over the last couple of miles, but not a horribly taxing effort overall.
Thursday 8/12/04
a.m. 10 miles on Parkdale loop, 6:50 pace with roommates. Felt a little tired from workout, but we still went at a decent clip.
Friday 8/13/04
a.m. 6 miles in Bloomer with Melissa. We ran easy on the trails in the Park. Saving our legs for the relay tomorrow! Felt good to be on the soft.
p.m. 5 miles on the course at Crystal Lake, after driving the course. The lake is beautiful, and Beulah is a really cute town, so it was a fun run, despite running on legs that had been sitting in the car for 6 hours.
Saturday 8/14/04
a.m. 3 mile wu, 10K leg, 4 mile cd. The relay was a lot of fun—it was a nice change of pace to cheer for my teammates, rather than trying to compete with them at a race. The weather was perfect, and it was fun to see all the other teams as we drove the course from leg to leg. Unfortunately, our team was running alone with no other competitors in sight. My leg was okay. I think I ran just over 36:00. Obviously not a great time, but I felt like it was a decent effort.
Sunday 8/15/04
a.m. 16 miles at the group run. Ran the Paint Creek Trail loop, and the normally daunting Dutton Hill was especially huge today. Felt okay once we got past that though. I ran with Melissa and a few guys from the community, about 6:30 pace.
Mileage Total: 85
Comments: Feels good to be getting more into marathon training mode. I’m feeling okay, so I’m getting antsy to increase the mileage.
