Don Jackson : Assistant Coach

My introduction into the sport of running came as a High School junior who thought he was a basketball player. Af
ter 2 years of JV hoops, it was time to move to varsity or get cut for the first time in my life. A coaching change meant our whole basketball team had to run cross country, and I decided to try and get a varsity letter in something so I busted my hump running. To make a long story short, I got the varsity letter, and would later become all state in track. But that cut still hurts. Why there's no room for a 6'1'' power forward out there is still a mystery to me...

The journey running has taken me on has been a fantastic one indeed. It led me to meet my wife, my bosses, and several other really incredible people. My wife Dela and I met at Macomb Community College where we both ran and Kevin coached us. She is ahead of me in the All American race, 13 to 3, so our two sons have some work to do. When Kevin and Keith told me of their plans to start this program, I was extremely excited and knew it wouldn't be long before the rest of the country felt the same. This is why I'm always around to do whatever is necessary to help the program from timing workouts if Keith and Kevin can't be in two places at once, (thought they are trying to get a patent for that one), to training the guys on things in the store, to even pacing workouts or races.

So I'm something of a part-coach (ie stopwatch holder), part-workout partner (when/if I'm fit enough) , part-boss (and a mean one too!), Carl Rundell type honorary guy (though that guy can rip up a dance floor!!) who just loves this program. Pretty simple, not too complex...okay...I'm done

Personal Records

400m 48.4 (1995)
